Miami Springs Police Chief Castillo shared the following mid-year update on crime stats. The encouraging report includes significant decreases in Theft, Auto Theft, Vehicular Burglaries, Commercial Burglaries, and Simple Assaults.
Furthermore, this drop in crime is associated with increased enforcement and visibility that has led to a 40% increase in arrests and a 46% increase in traffic citations.
Now that’s a job well done, but there’s much more. Here are the stats:

- Theft is down 64%
Miami Springs Auto Theft
- 1st 6 months of 2024:Â 32
- 1st 6 months of 2025:Â 12
- Auto Theft is down 61%
Miami Springs Vehicular Burglary
- 1st 6 months of 2024:Â 63
- 1st 6 months of 2025:Â 29
- Vehicular Burglary is down 55%
Miami Springs Commercial Burglary

- 1st 6 months of 2025:Â 9
- Commercial Burglary is down 36%
Miami Springs Simple Assault
