The Village of Virginia Gardens Police Department has added some lightning to its vehicle fleet. We’re talking about new Ford F-150 Lightning all electric pickup trucks.
These F-150 Lightning Police Pursuit vehicles do not use traditional gas. That means there’s no need to drive to the gas station every week. There’s no need to buy fuel. Instead, the vehicles are charged conveniently at the Village Police Station.
The Lightning is also very quiet. No rumbling engine. And with the exception of brakes and tires, the vehicle is virtually maintenance free. No oil changes. No spark plug changes. Just charge and go.
The biggest criticism of electric vehicles has been their range for road trips and the length of time it takes to recharge the vehicle. However, that’s not a problem for the Virginia Gardens Police Department. The vehicle range is more than sufficient for a week’s worth of driving. And the vehicles are conveniently charged at the Police Station after the shift.
