The twin quakes severely impacted the capital city of Caracas and coastal areas like La Guaira, which has been declared a disaster zone following the collapse of dozens of buildings and critical infrastructure. Emergency crews are currently conducting frantic search-and-rescue operations; the death toll has surpassed 900, with thousands injured and tens of thousands still missing or displaced. Survivors are dealing with ongoing aftershocks, power and gas outages, and disrupted communications, while international aid organizations mobilize to provide emergency relief.
