The family of Juan Antonio Fajet announces his peaceful passing on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the age of 84, at his home in Weston, Florida.

Born in Santa Clara, Cuba, Juan’s life was defined by his lifelong pursuit of knowledge, a strong Christian faith, and a deep devotion to service. In his youth, he was an Eagle Scout and a college Fencing Champion. Academically gifted, he began university at the remarkably young age of 15 and went on to become a mechanical engineer, a life-long career that perfectly suited his sharp and principled mind.
Juan’s commitment to service was a deep-rooted quality, which was best exemplified through his life in Scouting. A proud Eagle Scout, he tirelessly mentored young people as a leader for Troop 425 in Miami Springs. His profound dedication to the values of Scouting and its youth earned him the prestigious Silver Beaver Award, the highest honor awarded by Scouting America for distinguished service to young people.
As a Christian, Juan was a man who truly “walked the walk.” He lived his life with a profound sense of humility, striving daily to embody Christ’s love and moral principles through his actions. Over the years, he was a faithful parishioner at both Grace Lutheran Church and later, at Poinciana United Methodist Church, where he found great joy in the fellowship of his church family; his involvement was a testament to his deep, abiding faith.
Juan made his home in Miami Springs for over three decades, contributing to the community that he so dearly loved.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Nerelys Fajet, and his loving family: his son Alex Fajet and his sons, Ryan and Mark; and his son Walter Fajet [Mayor of Miami Springs], his wife Adriana, and their son, Nicolas. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, intellect, and selfless service.
As per Juan’s wishes, there will only be a small, private inurnment service.
The family requests that those who wish to honor Juan’s profound commitment to mentoring youth, consider a memorial donation in his honor, to the local Scouting organization in Miami Springs.
Donations can be made to Boy Scout Troop 334, which continues the important work of building character and developing future leaders in the community Juan served so faithfully.
