Obituary: Thomas Rossano

Thomas C. Rossano “Tommy, Tom, Pops” passed away peacefully on February 21, 2024 at the young age of 66 in Stuart, Florida at his home.

Tommy was born in Miami, FL on October 11, 1957.  He made his name as a star football player first in the Hialeah Optimist, eventually working his way to become a top varsity football player for Miami Springs High School, where his picture still hangs on the wall. He also dedicated himself selflessly as a football coach, most recently for the Stuart Hornets in 2001.  He also spent countless hours working with his kids, and their friends helping prepare them for sporting events.

Tom fought tenaciously for what he believed in, he would go toe-to-toe with anyone if it meant standing up for what’s right. A legacy that will live on for generations. In the late 90’s and early 2000’s he battled The Florida Club for his right to maintain livestock on his property and came out on top, even making his way into People Magazine in the August 14, 2000 print. “Sewwee!”

Pops was devoted to his family and always put them first.  He was loved and admired by many as he always managed to leave an indelible mark in their heart.  He was also devoted to his service as a letter carrier for the USPS as a Civil Service-member, officially and honorably retiring on January 2, 2024, after 42 years.

After retirement Dad thoroughly enjoyed finally having the time to work on all of his big plans, like reigniting his passion for fishing and making his property a big playground for his grandchildren to enjoy for years to come.

He is survived by his four children, Dawn (Brian) Smith, Tonia Rossano, Tyler (Mary) Rossano, and Daniel Rossano, and six grandchildren. He is also survived by his father, Joseph Rossano, brothers Mike Rossano, John Rossano, and sister Cissy Rossano.
