As of the 5am update from the National Weather Service, Hurricane IAN has strengthened into a Category 4 storm with maximum sustained winds of 140 mph.
TORNADO WATCH
A tornado watch remains in effect for Miami-Dade County. Several tornadoes occurred overnight in Broward and other parts of Florida. If you get an alert for a Tornado Warning, seek shelter immediately.
FLOOD WATCH
A flood watch remains in effect for South Florida with up to 8 inches of rain possible in localized areas.
POWER OUTAGES
Miami-Dade currently has 15,780 residents without power. FPL crews have already restored power to over 35,000 customers. As you might imagine, they’ll be busy restoring power in our area so that they can divert as quickly as possible to the areas to our west and north that will surely need far more assistance.
