On May 1, 2025, Miami Springs Police Department officers responded to a vehicle burglary report at the Embassy Suites Hotel. The victim reported that several valuable tools and equipment—worth $4,598—had been stolen from a locked box in his Dodge Ram 2500, parked in the hotel’s southwest lot.

The stolen items included Milwaukee power tools, batteries, tool bags, and various hand tools. Detectives tracked some of the stolen goods to a local pawn shop in Miami. Surveillance footage identified the suspect as Michael Shutov, who was seen pawning the items and driving a dark blue Toyota Camry—the same vehicle seen entering the hotel parking lot.

Further investigation led to the discovery of additional stolen items in Davie, helping officers confirm the vehicle’s involvement. The Camry was later located in Sunny Isles with Shutov behind the wheel. He was taken into custody on May 6, 2025, and transported to MSPD headquarters, where he invoked his right to remain silent and was arrested.
