A swift response by the Miami Springs Police Department on Saturday morning, October 3, 2026, led to the arrest of a suspect accused of attempting to break into vehicles in residential Miami Springs.
Lionel Melaki Timms, 38, was taken into custody and charged with one felony count of attempted burglary of an unoccupied conveyance.

Doorbell Camera Alert Leads to Prompt Arrest
According to police reports, the incident occurred at approximately 7:00 a.m. on Saturday. A resident in the 300 block of Pinecrest Drive noticed a stranger walking through her driveway on her doorbell security camera. The camera captured the suspect, later identified as Timms, actively pulling on the door handles of vehicles parked in the driveway.
Road patrol officers with the Miami Springs Police Department were dispatched to the scene immediately. Thanks to the quick notification and precise description, responding officers arrived within minutes, located Timms in the area, and placed him under arrest without incident.
Meadowlark Activity
Earlier today, officers were dispatched to Meadowlark Avenue after reports of a black male, black shirt tried to open the door. It’s unclear if they attempted to open the door of a vehicle or a home. They were last seen heading west along Meadowlark according to the dispatch call. We’re not sure if the Meadowlark incident was connected to Timms or not.
