LOCAL CASES
We now have 239 confirmed local cases of COVID-19 within our zip code. That’s a 4% increase from yesterday’s report. Of course, Miami Springs only represents 55% of the population within our zip code. The rest of the zip code is split between VG, Medley, Doral, and unincorporated Miami-Dade. With such a high rate of infection at Fair Havens, it’s highly likely that Miami Springs has more than just 55% of the 239 confirmed cases. That would mean it’s highly likely that over 131 residents of Miami Springs have been infected with COVID-19.
MIAMI-DADE
Despite the large increase locally, Miami-Dade only showed a 1% increase in new cases from our last report. As you can see in the chart below, the rate of new cases has continued to go down over the last few weeks.
Overall, Miami-Dade has had 14,298 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus. We’ve had 2,208 hospitalizations within the county. There was a large increase in the fatality count from 490 to 518. Currently, the fatality rate within the County is at 3.6%.
