First, let me be straight.  It’s not going to snow in Miami Springs this weekend.  But wouldn’t it be cool if it did?

I want to highlight the following screenshot for the Miami Springs forecast from Weather.com.  It shows that we have a 3% chance of “Mixed Precipitation”.  Now we all know that a 3% chance of rain means it’s not going to rain.  But it’s a 3% chance for “Mixed Precipitation” meaning a mix of rain and snow.  We NEVER see that here in South Florida.

So you’re saying there’s a chance…for snow?

Well, the chance for snow is not zero.  As of right now, the lows are forecast to be in the 30s.  That’s cold enough that any slight precipitation could turn into snow.

Does that mean it’s going to snow?  Of course not.  There’s a 97% chance it’s NOT going to snow.

But if it snowed in January of 1977, that means if the conditions are perfect, it’s possible, although not probable, that it can happen again.

What would snow in Miami Springs look like?

Just the crazy idea that there’s even a possibility of snow made us wonder, “What would snow in Miami Springs look like?”  Well, with the help of some A.I. imagery, let’s take a stroll through the fictional winter wonderland of Miami Springs covered in snow:
