The Miami Springs community is very proud of its Police Chief, Matthew Castillo. He’s a homegrown success story. Growing up in Miami Springs from Springview Elementary to Miami Springs Senior High. Graduating college and joining the Miami Springs Police force. Then rising through the ranks to become Miami Springs’ top cop.
So its bittersweet to see Chief Castillo accept his role as the new Chief of Police for the City of Doral. Effective June 15th, Castillo will be the new Chief of Police for the City of Doral. While we hate to see him go, we are incredibly excited and proud of Matthew Castillo. He has earned this great opportunity through hard work and dedication.

We want to thank Chief Castillo for his commitment to our community and the amazing results he achieved. Please join us in congratulating Castillo as he takes on the new role as Chief of Police for the City of Doral.
RESULTS MATTER:
According to Chief Castillo, in 2025 the Miami Springs Police Department doubled their arrests and doubled their citations. As a result, it led to a 17% reduction in call volume and a 40% reduction in property crime.

Of course, that now leaves us with a big vacancy at the police department. Who will be Miami Springs’ next top cop? Will it be a homegrown cop or an outsider? We’ll soon see. An announcement is expected on Monday.
