Councilwoman Mara Zapata Resigns to Run for School Board Seat

City of Miami Springs Councilwoman, Mara Zapata, gave her resignation to the City Council, effective this Friday, to give her the opportunity to run for Miami-Dade County School Board.

With that vacancy, the City will need to fill the vacancy.  That process includes making an appointment and calling a special election.  The City Attorney is recommending an election date of August 18, 2020.
