We are blessed to have humorist Buzz Fleischman as part of our beautiful Miami Springs Community. And Buzz absolutely adores our city. So much so, that he wrote a song about it.
Listen to Buzz Fleischman’s performance of “In Miami Springs” at last week’s Miami Springs Council Meeting.
Buzz wants your help!
As we approach our 100 year anniversary, Buzz wants your feedback to make the song “In Miami Springs” a community affair.
Here are the full lyrics of the song Buzz wrote:
“We’re at the heart of it all, we’ve got what it takes,
please don’t confuse us with Miami Lakes.”
We’re not Miami
We’re Miami Springs
…Miami Springs.
We’ve got nice long alleyways,
big canopy of trees..
Gotta keep ’em trimmed so we can feel the gentle breeze.
In our Tree City
Miami Springs
Miami Springs.
We’ve got a flock of wild parrots who squack really loud , but then they get drowned out by the airport sound…
In Miami Springs
Miami Springs
Miami Springs.
You know we’ve got some wild ducks, they’re fillin’ up the street.
Good for traffic calming, but not good enough to eat.
Fly to the Gables not Miami Springs
In Miami Springs.
Got a historic Golf Course in our little town.
the River Cities Festival, hey, it’s our local playground.
Only in the Springs
Miami Springs
Miami Springs
You know The daily cut through drivers cause a traffic overload,
but they’re the only ones who ever want to leave the zip code.
Drive through the suburbs,
not through the Springs
not through the Springs.
If we ever leave the zip code for dining out reach,
we go for lunch at Joe’s Stone Crab on Miami Beach,
and take the Causeway from Miami Springs
In Miami Springs
If we ever sped through town on testosterone,
we’d get a speeding ticket from Don Mazone!”
Don’t speed in the Springs
Don’t speed in the Springs
Don’t speed in the Springs
As we walk our dogs and as we drive, we waive to one another,
it’s almost like we’re all related by another mother..
In our hometown…
Miami Springs
Miami Springs
Miami Springs
Now folks call us Mayberry, the term is apropos,
Glenn Curtiss built this bubble, 100 years ago.
I love the Springs
You love the Springs
In Miami Springs.”
What can you add?
We LOVE what Buzz has done. It’s a great idea to create a song that will be long remembered beyond our 100 year centennial.
What suggestions do you have? Here are some quick concepts we’ve added, but we’d love to get feedback from our creative community:
“It’s an oasis in Miami, let the stress come down,
Tree lined streets await you in our hometown…”
or..
“Come raise your family, it’s a quiet place,
We’ve got great schools, and they all get ‘A’s”
or…
“The wildlife is amazing, you can see them any day,
‘Gators, squirrels, and ‘possums, or a pretty Blue Jay.”
What do you think? Add your suggestions to the comments below or via social media. We want to help Buzz get some feedback on a great song for Miami Springs!
