At a news conference earlier today, Miami-Dade State Attorney, Katherine Fernandez Rundle highlighted three human trafficking cases including the arrest of two individuals at the Miami Springs Parkway Inn located on Curtiss Parkway. She also provided further clarity about the incident.

According to Fernandez Rundle, at 2 a.m. last Saturday, Miami Springs Police responded to a 911 call from the victim.  The victim told the police she had been beaten by Darrel Robertson, the alleged pimp.  According to Rundle, when the victim “told Robertson that she no longer wanted to perform commercial sex acts, he beat her.”

Miami Springs Police responded by contacting the Miami-Dade Human Trafficking Task Force kicking off a multi-agency investigation and response.

The victim and her two year old daughter was secured and taken to a support building to meet with the victim’s advocacy group.  The victim then receives vital services and care.  The victim gets to decompress, shower, and receive medical care.  Shelter, clothing, food, and medical care is provided to allow the victim to feel safe and secure before opening up to investigators and share the horrid details of the crimes involved.

According to Rundle, the victim was trafficked in New Orleans, Memphis, Galveston, New York, and Washington before ending up here in Miami Springs.

Thank you MSPD

We want to thank the Miami Springs Police Department for their professional and caring response which led to the rescue of the victim and her two year old daughter.  And their hard work and follow up also led to the arrest of the alleged pimp and his alleged accomplice.
