Miami-Dade County Public Schools are back in session effective Thursday, August 14th.  That means traffic increases significantly in South Florida with school buses, car pools, and parents rushing to drop off kids at school before heading to work.

SLOW DOWN – SPEED TRAPS

School zone speed limits are in place to protect children who are walking to and from school.  Our school zones will be enforced with heavy police presence.  But even when the police are not physically at our school zones, the traffic cameras are.  That means you can get an automatic speeding ticket when you exceed the speed limit at our school zones.

When You Don’t Need to Stop

  • If you’re traveling in the opposite direction and there’s a paved median only (i.e., not raised or unpaved), you still must stop. Only a physical barrier or ≥5 ft unpaved median qualifies for the exception.Wikipedia+9FL Highway Safety+9Reddit+9
