According to multiple published reports, a Miami Springs police officer was dragged by a car along northwest South River Drive during the afternoon of Thursday, December 8th. The unnamed Miami Springs officer had just stopped a black Mazda driven by a 15 year old male. The driver then allegedly grabbed the officer and took off at speeds up to 60 – 80 miles per hour. The police offer was finally able to get free and made a radio call for help.
The officer, a 13 year veteran of the Miami Springs Police Department, was reportedly in serious condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
The suspect is likely to face attempted murder charges.
