At yesterday’s Miami Springs City Council Meeting, Councilman Victor Vazquez announced that he will not be running for re-election in April.

Vazquez won the Group IV Council Seat back in 2021.  He also won his re-election bid in 2023.  As a popular incumbent, he was expected to have a strong change at re-election once again in 2025.

Vazquez attributed long term health concerns as to why he did not want to run for re-election, but he reiterated he would continue to serve through the end of his current term.

Mayor Mitchell is termed out and will not be running for re-election.  However, Councilman Walter Fajet is running for Mayor.  That means Fajet will not be running for re-election for the Group III seat.

Furthermore, Councilwoman Jacky Bravo announced in November that she was pregnant and expecting a baby boy in March.  As a result of the life changing news, she will not be running for re-election in April.

That means it’s time for you, the residents of Miami Springs to step up.  We need some great, civic minded individuals to sacrifice time and resources for the benefit of our beautiful community.  Do you have what it takes to run for Miami Springs City Council?  The time is now to make the decision to run for City Council.
