A gorgeous three days in Miami Springs combined with a record sized crowd, amazing vendors, great music, beautiful cars, and most importantly, wonderful people led to one of the best River Cities Festivals I’ve ever seen.
The weather was fantastic all weekend long. We’re talking about crystal clear blue skies with hardly a cloud in sight. Add lows in the mid 60s with high temps in the low 80s. Then add a slight breeze and lower than normal humidity and you have a recipe for fabulously perfect weather.
Saturday morning’s Festival 5K kicked off with a temperature of about 65 degrees. Perfect running weather with a great crowd of residents enjoying the ability to run a competitive race through the beautiful tree lined streets of Miami Springs.
By Saturday night the festival was packed with visitors from across South Florida. Miami Springs was the place to be with free entertainment, great food, lots of fun, and a wonderful crowd.
There were tons of great vendors from Canal Street to the Circle to Westward Drive. From cafecitos to mojitos, you could find it at the Festival.
Children’s World was packed with hundreds of kids enjoying the kiddie rides and massive jumbo bounce house.
We also enjoyed seeing the continuation of the Miami Springs Senior High Alumni Reunion event hosted by the High School. We saw tons of alumni wearing their name badges Saturday night to help each other remember the names of the faces they recognized.
The festival was busy all weekend long with a great crowd having fun. The vendors appeared to do well thanks to what seemed to be record crowds.
Plus the car show on Saturday and Sunday added a major draw to Westward Drive that had been dead in past festivals. We’re not talking about two or three cars. They had dozens of classics and even some exotics gloriously taking in the Miami Springs sunshine and begging to be photographed.
Of course, Miami Springs’ finest was out in force to ensure everybody had a good time.
Overall, this had to have been one of the most successful festivals of all time. Congratulations to the River Cities Festival committee and special thanks to all the volunteers for their hard work and commitment to our community. it did not go unnoticed. Well done everybody!
