Florida State Senator (and Miami Springs resident) Bryan Avila announced $2.65 Million in secured funding for Miami Springs.

It includes:

  • $350,000 for Senior Meals at the Senior Center
  • $1.5 Million for Oakwood Drive Roadway Improvements
  • $800,000 for Westward Drive Roadway Improvements

Senator Avila also praised the work of State Representative Alex Rizo when he posted the following statement on social media:

I am incredibly proud to have worked with @teamalexrizo to secure $350,000 for senior meals, $1,500,000 for roadway improvements to Oakwood Drive, and $800,000 for roadway improvements to Westward Drive in the @cityofmiamisprings. These state funds are critical to helping our low-income seniors and improving infrastructure in our community.

We would like to thank Senator Avila for consistently fighting for our community.  We also want to thank Representative Rizo for his contributions to our city.

If funding from homesteaded property taxes dries up, our future funding and support may become more reliant on Tallahassee than ever before.  Inevitably, that shifts more power away from Miami Springs and towards the panhandle.
