Blessed Trinity Catholic Church rarely changes its mass schedule. So the new mass schedule changes that go into effect July 4th weekend is big news for the parishoners. Here`s the update from Blessed Trinity`s Father Alfaro:

NEW MASS SCHEDULE BEGINNING JULY 5/6, 2014
Dear Parish Family,

I would like to thank you for your support and for your prayers for me during this past year. Believe it or not, June 1st will mark the first anniversary of my arrival to Blessed Trinity! From that first day, I have felt welcomed, supported, and blessed to be a part of this beautiful community of faith.

When I was appointed, I asked for your magnanimity as I learned my new role as a Shepherd of this community. At this moment in time, I would like to ask for your forgiveness if, at any time during these last twelve months, I have offended you in any way. Know that all my decisions have been prayerfully discerned.

I was taught in the seminary that a priest should not make any drastic changes his first year at a parish. Since I arrived, the Parish Council, parishioners, and staff have brought to my attention that we offer too many Sunday Masses and as a result the community is thinly scattered. I asked everyone to allow me time to assess the situation, while keeping in mind Archbishop Wenski’s counsel to me that when it comes to the number of Masses offered, it is always better to have a full (or semi-full) church.
By way of gathering information, we conducted a survey back in February, and 170 of you responded. A lot of good information was gleaned from this survey, and I have taken many of your ideas into consideration. That said, we came up with a new Mass schedule (outlined below). While it may take some time for all of us to adapt to these changes, I am hopeful that it will be a benefit to everyone:

Mass Schedule, beginning July 5/6

Monday – Friday
7:30 AM (no change)

Saturday
8:30 AM (new time, since this is a Communal Mass, and we want more families to attend)
5:00 PM (Children’s Mass, our Children’s Choir will sing every week)
6:30 PM (Spanish Vigil Mass, to replace the 7 PM Sunday Spanish Mass)

Sunday
8:30 AM (new time, combining the 8 AM AND 9:30 AM)

10:30 AM (new time)

12:30 PM (Spanish – no change)

5:30 PM (Youth Mass, to allow our Youth to be more active in the parish. Our Confirmandi will receive religious instruction after this Mass)

Confessions on Saturday afternoons will stay at 4 PM. Confessions on Sundays will change to: 9:45 AM to 10:30 AM.

There are many faith and community-building activities happening at Blessed Trinity, and I would like to thank you for your positive response to our Eucharistic Adoration, parish picnics, monthly conferences, parish mission, and the creation of some new parish ministries. With God’s help, we will continue to make this parish a nurturing, faith-filled community. Upcoming events include a Novena to Blessed Trinity to honor our patronal feast, a big celebration of our Blessed Trinity weekend and Father’s Day after the Fishing Tournament on Saturday June 14th. The inception of our summer will be graced with a Eucharistic Procession around Miami Springs on Saturday, June 21st after the 5 PM Vigil Mass on the feast of Corpus Christi. Please join us with your participation and support as we represent Blessed Trinity in the annual Miami Springs 4th of July Parade.

Know of my prayers for you, please do the same for me. Together we will continue fortifying the Body of Christ and reap a rich harvest where the Lord has called us to serve.

In Christ,

Father José N. Alfaro
