In a recent incident in Miami Springs, a resident made a withdrawal from a local bank, only to be unknowingly followed home by a newer model BMW SUV. After arriving at his residence, the resident left the withdrawal money inside his vehicle while he briefly went inside his home. Seizing the opportunity, Walter Ray Kyles allegedly exited the SUV, smashed the resident’s vehicle window, and stole both the checks and the withdrawal money.
However, Kyles may have underestimated the swift response capabilities in Miami Springs. The crime took place around 4:25 PM, and by 6:25 PM, Kyles was identified, his vehicle was located, and both he and the alleged female driver, Summer Jenae Wallace, were arrested by the Investigations Division. A portion of the stolen money was recovered and returned to the resident, thanks to the quick and coordinated efforts of law enforcement.
Special thanks go to the City of Miami Police Department’s Tactical Robbery Unit for their assistance in locating the vehicle.
This incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of “bank jugging,” a type of theft where criminals surveil banks or ATMs, follow individuals who have withdrawn large amounts of cash, and then rob them, often by force or by breaking into their vehicles. The crime involves careful observation, with thieves frequently working in teams to target unsuspecting victims. Residents are urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious vehicles or persons loitering around banks to the authorities.
