Meghan Trainor said “It’s all about that bass…” Well residents from Miami Springs and Hialeah are getting tired about all that bass coming from Factory Town.
Starting on Halloween night, Factory Town kicked off it’s Halloween Weekend outdoor concert. And while most people won’t hear the music notes, the thumping bass can be heard for miles.
For those unfamiliar with where Factory Town is located, it’s at 4800 NW 37th Avenue. Now, that sounds far away, but it’s really not. The 4800 block of NW 37th Avenue puts Factory Town directly east of Morningside Drive by just 1 mile.
But it wasn’t just the east side of Miami Springs that could hear the thumping. The pounding bass could be heard on the west side of Miami Springs near Ludlam Avenue in the Bird Section. Miami Springs Police Chief and lifelong Miami Springs resident, Jimmy Deal reported that he could hear the music along the 1200 block of the Bird Section near Ludlam.
On Halloween night, I personally heard the thumping bass from my home in the Bird Section which I initially thought was from a local Halloween party. But as I was letting the dogs out in the early morning hours of Friday, November 1st, I immediately noticed the same thumping was still going on. I knew right away that it had to be Factory Town blasting the bass once again.
The music continued again Friday night into Saturday morning. Saturday night into Sunday morning. Sunday night into Monday morning.

As we’ve stated time and time again, we want Factory Town to succeed and grow. But not at the expense of the quality of life of Miami Springs residents.
What’s most infuriating is that Factory Town had made adjustments and had lowered its impact to Miami Springs when the City filed a nuisance lawsuit. As a result of Factory Town’s reduced impact towards the Miami Springs Community, the City dropped its lawsuit.
Now of course, the noise is back. Councilwoman Bravo described it as a game of Hokie Pokie with Factory Town.

Residents spoke up at the Tuesday City Council Meeting complaining about the unending overnight music from Thursday night to Monday morning. Miami Springs resident and former candidate for City Council, Sandra Ruiz stated that Factory Town is proposing a new 11 story parking garage near the Factory Town location. She also stated that the area is being redeveloped as “another Wynwood.”
Ruiz asked, “What is the council doing for us?” She asked that city needs “an affirmative action plan to preserve the quality of life for Miami Springs residents.”
Marilyn Morales also spoke up regarding “the excessively loud noise” from Factory Town. She highlighted that previous agreements made with Factory Town were being broken. “Their violation is unacceptable…We can no longer sit back and wait for each event to occur and then react.”
Gigi and Lou Graso of Miami Springs spoke at the Hialeah City Council Meeting. She said, “The noise is back and it’s terrible…It’s not a pleasure to be back. This is our 3rd time here. We believed the first two times that you were going to mitigate the problem…This has to stop. It’s not fair.”
Hialeah resident and MSSH alum, Jose Ozzie, posted on the Miami Springs Community Facebook Group that “An 11 story parking lot has been proposed to go up across the street from Factory Town. This issue will get worse. An investment company from New Hampshire has been buying much of the land around Factory Town. This part of Hialeah has a 24 liquor license.”
Jose Ozzie Pepper spoke at this week’sHialeah City Council Meeting this week and shared a video regarding Factory Town. The video also claims that Mayor Bovo is ignoring Hialeah’s own noise abatement laws.
Mayor Bovo had a nasty back and forth with Jose which frankly seemed unbecoming of the office of Mayor of the City of Hialeah. In that back and forth, Bovo claimed to receive 5 complaint calls regarding Factory Town. Two of which Bovo claimed came from Miami Springs residents. (The exchange is embarrassing to watch.)
Miami Springs City Manager JC Jimenez has once again brought up the prospect of a lawsuit against Factory Town if a permanent noise abatement cannot be achieved.
Furthermore, Manager Jimenez announced that new devices will be used by the Miami Springs Police Department. Unlike decibel readers that pick up high pitched sounds, the new devices will detect the low frequency bass sounds. This will provide the City of Miami Springs with recorded measurements that can be used in court should the City of Miami Springs and Factory Town end up back in a courtroom.
One more thing. Jimenez indicated he wanted to bring in a Sound Engineer on behalf of the City of Miami Springs who can provide guidance to the types of remedies Factory Town can make to allow the residents of Miami Springs to get a good night’s sleep.
We are rooting for Factory Town to succeed by being a good neighbor and taking the complaints from Miami Springs, Brownsville, and Hialeah residents seriously. They need to either lower their bass settings, move the equipment in such away as it doesn’t travel miles away or construct sound dampening to absorb the bass on premise.
What do you think? Were you impacted by the Factory Town music?
It appears as if the Hialeah Mayor could care less about the complaints. Honestly, I was so turned off at how unprofessionally he responded to one of his own residents, I’m glad he never became Mayor of Miami-Dade County (and I had voted for him). His response and unprofessionalism gives me little hope he’ll be helpful to the residents of Miami Springs. If you don’t believe me, watch the video for yourself as he lashes out at one of his own resident.
Let’s see how the city is going to handle this.
