ROAD CLOSURES SUNDAY:
US-27 AND STATE ROAD 112 will be closed Sunday.
You will not be able to cross Okeechobee Road Sunday from the early morning through most of the afternoon.
The Miami 70.3 Ironman triathlon returns Sunday, October 25th. This is one of the biggest triathlon events held in the state of Florida.
The bike route traverses US-27 / Okeechobee Road from Miami to Broward. NO TRAFFIC WILL BE ALLOWED TO CROSS OKEECHOBEE ROAD.
The route also includes State Road 112. That means you will NOT be able to access State Road 112 on Sunday.
So how do you head north if you`re in Miami Springs?
Route 1: Take 36 street west to the Palmetto Expressway. Head north on Palmetto Expressway to get over US-27. Don`t exit on US-27 as traffic will be very very bad.
Route 2: Take Royal Poinciana west to South River Drive in Medley. Make a left at the first light (aka NW 74 Street). Continue west on NW 74 street until you reach Milam Dairy Road. Make a left on Milam Dairy. Then, make another left onto the Hialeah Expressway. This will get you over US-27.
To head east, you`ll have to take NW 36 to NW 27th Avenue and follow the detours there. Or take LeJeune Road south to State Road 836.
Pack your patience and expect delays from the morning through the early afternooon.
