The City Council of Miami Springs will be taking up a second reading of an ordinance regarding Recreational Vehicle Parking. However, based on feedback from the City Council, the City Attorney has made some changes prior to the official second reading. Further changes may still occur before the ordinance becomes final.
Key restrictions proposed included:
- Maximum of four recreational vehicles may be parked or stored on a property.
- Side yard may only have one recreational vehicle parked or stored and it must be at least
3′0′ away from the side property line. - Maximum of three recreational vehicles may be parked or stored in rear yard.
- You can only have one of the following on your property:
- Trailer
- Trailer Coaches
- Camping Trailers
- Motorhomes / Coaches
- Slide-in Pickup Campers
- Converted Vans
- Mini-Motorhome
- 5th Wheel Trailer
Boats shall be less than 32 feet in length and 10 feet 2 inches wide- Recreational vehicles must have a current vehicle registration or license plate
- Temporary Parking
- Recreational vehicles may be temporarily parked for no more than 24 hours in any 48-hour period in front of the building line or in front of the side street for the purposes of loading and unloading equipment and supplies.
- Recreational vehicles shall not be attached to any generator or service connection lines (including but not limited to electrical, water, and sewer) except as may periodically be required to clean or otherwise maintain the recreational vehicle. A recreational vehicle attached to a generator or service connection line for more than 24 hours is prima facie evidence of its use as living or sleeping quarters.
The City Council Meeting will be held tonight at 7pm at Miami Springs City Hall. The public is invited to speak on the matter.
