Ruben Daniel Gonzalez shared the following video to the Miami Springs Community Group on Facebook of a vandalized BMW SUV that was parked near the Airport Cafe and Liquors located on NW 36th Street. In the video you can see there were multiple windows smashed in and broken in what appears to be a vehicular burglary. Vehicular burglaries are the most common form of reported crime in Miami Springs.
The most common form of vehicular burglary is when the alleged burglar attempts to open the doors of multiple vehicles and then rummages an unlocked vehicle. This case is different as multiple windows were smashed in. Usually, crooks want to avoid the attention caused by smashing multiple windows. They typically smash a single window, and then use the vehicle’s power locks to gain access to other parts of the vehicle.
However, if the vehicle’s alarm system didn’t go off from breaking the window, the culprit may have been afraid of setting off the alarm by opening the door without disarming and continued to smash windows to gain further access.
Bottom line, you should never leave valuables inside your vehicle.
