Village of Virginia Gardens Police Chief, Ray Hernandez, announced on Friday, October 24, 2025, that VGPD Detective Darwin Villavicencio was officially sworn in as Captain of the Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue Department (MDFR).
Detective Villavicencio was promoted to Captain earlier this year in July, and Friday’s ceremony marks a proud milestone in his distinguished career of public service.
In attendance and proudly supporting him were VGPD Chief Ray Hernandez, Lt. Eugene Morales, Officer Lozano, and several former VGPD officers.
