MSSH Alum, former Golden Hawk Football Player, Miami Springs resident and business owner, Roger Madan, debuts the new “Big Play Chain” that his daughter, Lauren Madan, made for the Miami Springs Golden Hawks Football Team.

Here’s how the chain came to be as told by Roger Madan:

“When the U broke out that chain in 2017, it started to slowly gain momentum with the fans.  For many years our family traditionally travels to UM-FSU game in Tally every other year.

So last year, Lauren totally on her own, decided to replicate the turnover chain for her, her husband Ryan, her brother Rogelio and myself, which we proudly wore at Doak Campbell Stadium.

The funny thing is while we were still in the hotel parking lot the day of the game, fans were coming up to us and asking where we bought those chains.

Lauren mentioned she made them and they started asking is she could make one for them.  She probably had 10 orders by the time we left Tally.

Lauren and her husband Ryan, literally made an assembly line at our house (they hadn’t moved in to their house yet) and like any new product went through that trial and error period, along with reducing costs by buying in larger bulk.

It was really fun watching this thing grow.

Soon her chains were all over twitter and she started getting requests from all over the country, including Adrian Colbert a U grad and defensive back for the San Francisco 49ers.

The comedian, David Allan Grier, tweeted her “Hey Lauren can you hook a brother up?”   So, she sent him one and he sent her back a photo of him wearing the chain.

The night of the Notre Dame we had a nice couple sitting behind us.  I thought the guy was a former UM player and the dude had the most amazing smile.  So, I’m telling Lauren and Ryan, “man that guy should get into modeling” and just when I’m about to offer him my career advice, Ryan notices him, grabs me and tells me “that’s Tyson Beckford the most famous male model in the world.”  Well he hung with us for most of the game and even “modeled” the chains for Lauren.   What a super good guy!!!

By the end of 2017, Lauren had made over 100 chains.

This summer, Lauren had a sneaking suspicion that the U was going to unveil a new turnover chain.  Well she nailed and correctly predicted the Angry Ibis for the 2018 chain.

This year through our friendship with the Ty Hilton family, Lauren was approached by TY Sr. if she could make a turnover chain for the Gwen Cherry Bulls Pop Warner football team.

After that the Liberty City Warriors football team asked her for a chain and another one for their Boom Squad.  This is the team that is featured on a Starz Documentary Series.
From there she has made unique chains for more Pop Warner teams North Miami Redskins, Northwest Miami Ducks, Central High, and Jackson High.  After those last two, I said “hey what about my Golden Hawks?”

Next week she had a meeting with the entire Pop Warner League administrators about doing more work for them.  It has really blown up!”

Of course, it seems this is good luck as the Miami Springs Senior High Golden Hawks are on a 4 game winning streak.  As Roger says , “They are 4-1…Please support these young men and coaches.”

GO HAWKS!
