According to a report by Theo Karantsalis and published inĀ The Miami Herald,Ā Miami Springs Councilwoman Maria Mitchell was recently hit by a car while cycling on a Miami Springs sidewalk.
Fortunately, according to the report, no one was injured. Mitchell was allegedly hit by a vehicle backing out of a driveway that apparently could not see her due to hedges that blocked the view of the sidewalk.
Mitchell has long been a supporter of cycling in Miami Springs and you can often see her enjoying the beauty of Miami Springs as she cycles through our city streets.Ā We are pleased to read that she was not injured.Ā This is a reminder that we must be careful of pedestrians on our sidewalks and that we want to encourage a community that is always pedestrian friendly, dog walking friendly, cycling friendly, jogging friendly, etc.
