According to an article published in The Miami Herald, the debris clean up process in Miami Springs may not be completed until the week of November 9th.
The reason is money.
In order for the City of Miami Springs (as well as every other municipality) to be reimbursed by FEMA, the city must follow specific rules. They must only collect vegetation. The vegetation must be measured and weighed. To quote the article, “If cities and counties stray from these rules, they won’t get reimbursed, meaning the municipality will front the bill, said Bruce Loucks, Cooper City’s city manager. In Miramar, that’s expected to be anywhere from $9 to $10 million. In Hialeah, it could be as high as $12 million.”
Be patient. The debris is actively being collected throughout the city. Slowly, but surely, blocks are cleaning up.
Furthermore, the estimate is not that bad for Miami Springs. According to the Herald article, Miramar won’t be complete until the end of the year. Dania Beach is estimating a completion date of January 31st, 2018.
