5am August 29

The news this morning on Hurricane Dorian:

  1. It’s currently a Category 1 Hurricane
  2. It’s still forecast to hit Florida
  3. We may have gained a day as its impact is now expected on Monday morning.

We recommend you get your supplies fully stocked in the next 24 hours and use the weekend for any physical home preparation as we get a better look at where Dorian will hit.

NOTE:  The forecast cone ranges from the Florida Keys to Southern Georgia.  That means we can get a direct hit, an indirect hit (like Irma), or it can completely miss us.  Nevertheless, you don’t want to wait till this weekend to get your supplies.  Get your supplies by Friday.

Key Messages from the National Hurricane Center:

1. The risk of dangerous storm surge and hurricane-force winds later
this week and this weekend continues to increase in the central and
northwestern Bahamas and along the Florida east coast, although it
is too soon to determine where these hazards will occur. Residents
in these areas should ensure they have their hurricane plan in place
and not focus on the exact forecast track of Dorian's center.

2. Heavy rains are expected to occur over portions of the Bahamas,
Florida, and elsewhere in the southeastern United States later this
week and into early next week.
