Meet Nicolas Acosta, a standout finalist for the 2025 Francisco R. Walker Teacher of the Year award in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Based at Miami Springs Senior High School in the M-DCPS Central Region, Mr. Acosta, a former logistics and aviation professional, actively bridges the gap between industry and education.
Leveraging his background, Nicolas has cultivated a strong relationship with the professional world by integrating guest speakers and field trips into the curriculum. Notably, he played a pivotal role in launching the Aerospace Magnet program at his school, which earned certification from the National Academy Foundation in 2019. This program not only elevates the educational experience for his students but also serves as a beacon of inspiration for schools nationwide, showcasing Nicolas Acosta’s dedication to innovative teaching and industry collaboration.
