Univision 23 reported last night of a mom who says her son continues to get violently bullied at Miami Springs Middle School. The report shares multiple incidents of the student allegedly being attacked by other students. Watch the Univision report here.
One of the videos shockingly shows 2 students in a full on fist fight while a teacher in the background calmly takes a drink.
Unfortunately, this has not been a rare incident at this school which has struggled with this for years. Unlike some of the charter schools that can easily remove violent students, Miami Springs Middle seems to be stuck with this problem. Now I know many people will say that there have always been fights at Miami Springs Middle School. Trust me I know. This author was involved in a few of them back in the ’80s. However, we should not accept this as normal and should continue to demand a better environment for our children.
Here are some other recent incidents shared to social media:

STAFFORD PARK
If you think the violence inside the school doesn’t spill out into the community, you’d be wrong. Below you’ll see a fight captured at Stafford Park. Fortunately, some adults in the area intervened. I especially love the the old man, who has to use a cane to walk, that did his part and got out of his car and slowly walks towards the fight to break it up:
