Damary Enid Barrios, 21, was arrested yesterday afternoon by Miami Springs Police on auto theft charges and outstanding warrants. According to Police, an officer patrolling the area of Forrest Drive conducted a records check on a vehicle parked in the parking lot of an apartment complex. The records check revealed that the vehicle was stolen and the Police setup surveillance in unmarked vehicles.
After a short period of surveillance, a Hispanic female (later identified as Damary Barrios) appeared in the apartment complex and entered the stolen vehicle. As she attempted to drive away, Miami Springs Police conducted a Felony stop and took the female into custody without incident.
Miami Springs Police allege that Barrios spontaneously stated that she “bought the vehicle from a crackhead!” According to Police, she indicated that she new that the vehicle was stolen.
Miami Springs Police charged her with Grand Theft 3rd Degree / Vehicle. As is routine, the Police ran a records check and found Barrios had an outstanding warrant for probation violation and Strongarm Robbery. She is also alleged to attempt to drive a vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
