Miami Springs doesn’t have to worry about the craziness and madness of thousands of college aged men and women taking over our streets.  That distinction goes to Miami Beach which has been ground zero for Spring Break madness since COVID.

This year, Miami Beach is breaking up with Spring Break.  The City of Miami Beach has taken an aggressive and hostile approach saying “You’re not welcome.”  Those steps have included shutting down city owned lots and parking garages.  In other cases, the City of Miami Beach is imposing $100 Parking Fees.  And Miami Beach has doubled towing fees.  Add bag checks, DUI checkpoints, and 6pm beach closures and you’ve got a very different Miami Beach.

SPRING BREAKERS ARE STILL COMING TO MIAMI

Spoiler alert.  Spring breakers are still coming to Miami.  $100 parking fees are easily avoided with an UBER or taxi ride.  And where can Spring Breakers find a cheap hotel with a short ride from the airport and a short ride to the beach?

Oh yeah.   That’s right.  Miami Springs.

Don’t believe me.  Take a look at the nightly published rates in Miami Springs.  You can stay from just $96 per night.

And you can rent a room in residential Miami Springs very affordably for Spring Break.  We’re talking about rooms starting from just $66 per night.  Check out some of the following AirBNB listings in Miami Springs:

Do we expect to have crazy mobs jumping on police cars on Curtiss Parkway?  Of course not.

Can we expect a spring break invasion in Miami Springs.  Absolutely.

Will that increase in Spring Break revelry lead to additional drunk and disorderly calls?  Will we see an increase in crimes along NW 36th Street?  Will residents have to contend with out of control AirBNB parties?

Only time will tell.  But as Miami Beach “breaks up” with Spring Break, Miami Springs needs to asses the impact Spring Break has on our Police Department and on AirBNB disturbance calls.
