On Friday, March 31st, two individuals were arrested after allegedly committing an armed robbery at a local hotel. The incident took place on Wednesday, March 29th when the victim agreed to meet Aaliyah Mason-Wilkes at the hotel for sex and a rented room. According to Miami Springs Police, the situation took a dangerous turn when the victim noticed Mason-Wilkes allegedly paying close attention to his wallet as he paid for the room, and she immediately began texting someone.

According to Police, at some point during their encounter the victim expressed his desire to leave the room, and Aaliyah Mason-Wilkes allegedly suggested they go get some water. As soon as the victim stepped out of the room, he was allegedly pushed by Mason-Wilkes and found himself face to face with Jordan Jackson-Miller, who was waiting outside. To his horror, Jackson-Miller allegedly pointed a black handgun at his head and demanded all of his money.

In a state of panic, the victim ran away, but Jackson-Miller caught up with him near the pool fence. Jackson-Miller then allegedly pulled out a glass liquor bottle from his pants and struck the victim on the forehead, causing a contusion and a laceration. The two assailants allegedly fled the scene before the police arrived, but the entire incident was caught on surveillance camera.

After two days, a witness to the original incident saw the subjects at the hotel and alerted the police to their whereabouts. Police were able to place the two suspects under arrest. Police claim both subjects denied any wrongdoing.  The two alleged assailants were booked into TGK Correctional Facility and charged with attempted robbery with a firearm and aggravated battery with a weapon.

MORE ACTION NEEDED

We need the City of Miami Springs to take more administrative action against these hotels.  We all want the ability to add a bed tax.  If we can’t add a bed tax, then we need to find other ways for the hotels with excessive number of police calls to either pay for for our police services or pay for their own in house security.  Bottom line, waiting for the State of Florida to allow us to apply a bed tax isn’t solving the problem.  We need solutions now.
