We are sad to report the passing of Tex Ziadie aka Tex Ford, the former City of Miami Springs Director of Building and Code Compliance.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family.  Learn more about Tex and his full life below:

Tex Ford was born on Valentineā€™s Day, 1952, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He grew up in Miami, Florida and attended the University of Florida, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education. Tex worked in the Miami-Dade County Public School system as an English teacher two different times, first in the 1970ā€™s and lastly from 2000 to 2004. He was chosen by the University of Miamiā€™s AMBIENT teaching program as one of their Master teachers. Tex also has extensive experience in the business world. He worked for over eighteen years for the Federal Express Corporation, where he was a Senior Manager of Ground Operations.

In addition to his weekday employment, Tex served for over two decades at a Baptist Church in Miami, where he held the offices of Sunday School Director, Discipleship Training Director, Chairman of Deacons and Bible Teacher. In 1994, he was ordained as the Associate Pastor of the church. He resigned that position in October of 2003. After that, Tex served as Interim Pastor of a United Methodist Church in Miami. During his tenure there, he wrote and performed several Christian songs, based on the melodies from popular top forty hits. He is currently working on a video Bible study class to be broadcast on YouTube and on a new Web Site designed by his daughter.

Tex lives in Miami with his wife of 40 years. His children all attended and graduated from the University of Miami on academic scholarships. His oldest daughter is a Pediatric Pathologist. His son is a sleep Technologist and his youngest daughter is a Product Owner with a large Technology company.

Tex was employed by a local Municipality as the Director of the Building and Code Compliance Departments for eleven years. He retired from that job in February of 2015. His wife, Linda, retired from the University of Miami School of Law shortly after. Tex is now enjoying retirement and writing full time. He is working on another novel to be titled ‘The Roman’.”

Services for Ziadie will be held Friday, December 22nd at 7PM at Poinciana United Methodist Church.
