Our zip code, 33166, now has 208 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus.  That’s 4 more cases than yesterday in our area.  As you know, our zip code includes Miami Springs (55% of the population), Virginia Gardens, parts of Medley, parts of Doral, and the Milam Dairy tract of unincorporated Miami-Dade.  That number also includes the 89 residents of Fair Havens that were confirmed to be positive with the Coronavirus.

Miami-Dade

New cases of the Coronavirus continues to trend down in Miami-Dade County.  The Miami-Dade numbers are definitely tracking in the right direction.  Governor DeSantis seemed to imply that Miami-Dade may join the rest of the state in moving to Phase I re-openings.

Miami-Dade has over 13,000 cases of COVID-19 with 14% requiring hospitalization.  Miami-Dade has had 407 fatalities for a 3% fatality rate.

FLORIDA

The State of Florida has over 38,000 cases of COVID-19 with a 17% hospitalization rate.  Florida has lost over 1,500 people to the virus for a 4.0% fatality rate.  Fortunately, Florida’s fatality rate is no where near the 9% fatality rate in Michigan and Connecticut.  And we are no where near the sheer volume of cases experienced in New York and New Jersey.
