Miami-Dade County has proposed closing the downtown jail facility and expanding the TGK facility to not only accommodate existing inmates, but all the inmates that would normally stay at the downtown facility.
A Workshop of the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners with the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department for a briefing on a replacement jail is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at 10:00 A.M. This Workshop will only be held virtually utilizing communications media technology made permissible pursuant to the Governor’s Executive Orders.
