The Miami-Dade Public Library System’s Miami Springs Branch is expanding its reach. The branch recently rolled out a new Neighborhood Bookshelf located inside the Self-Help Credit Union office on the Circle (101 Curtiss Parkway).
“Miami Springs Branch Library Manager Rita Mayer and the library team were on-hand at Self-Help’s recent grand opening events,” said Sam Chesser, Regional VP at Self-Help Credit Union.“When they approached us about the Neighborhood Bookshelf idea for our office, we
enthusiastically said yes. Our Credit Union is all about strengthening communities, and we love the idea of residents visiting to browse or check out books.”
There are about 20 Neighborhood Bookshelves in Miami-Dade County. The Neighborhood Bookshelf at the Self-Help Credit Union is the only one in Miami Springs, and while its selection may change over time, it currently offers about 30 books for children and adults.
The Neighborhood Bookshelf is available during Self-Help Credit Union’s open hours — Weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm (10 am to 5 pm on Wednesdays). Location: 101 Curtiss Parkway Miami Springs, FL 33166. Individuals may checkout items if they have a valid library card. If you don’t have an MDPLS library card, you can apply for one online at www.mdpls.org or by visiting the Miami Springs Branch Library at 401 Westward Drive where you can access a wide selection of books, enjoy programs and events, and take advantage of many other educational resources.
