An early morning house fire at 851 Hunting Lodge Drive killed one dog, but fortunately, the family inside including two adults and three children were able to escape the fire.
Media reports are claiming that the fire started in the garage where the family had a Tesla. Because of prior incidents of Electric Vehicle’s catching fire and the intensity of the fire, media reports are speculating that the Tesla may have been the source of the fire.
According to media reports, the family’s dog was sleeping in its crate in the garage. The dog didn’t make it.
The beautiful home sits on the Miami Springs Golf Course. Unlike most Miami Springs, homes this home is fairly modern.
The house is owned by a wonderful family, Dr. Emery Salom and his wife Ileana. There’s no doubt this was a traumatic event for them and their children. Obviously, we are saddened by the loss of their dog and the damage to their lovely home. But the home can be repaired or rebuilt. Family members cannot be replaced.
Hunting Lodge Drive was closed near the home this morning as emergency crews were still at the scene.
According to CBS News, Miami-Dade Firefighters were able to contain the intense fire from completely devouring the entire home. According to Miami-Dade County, the home’s structure covers an area of 6,447 sq ft. The CBS report claims about 40% of the home sustained significant damage.
