Miami Springs shined once again this Halloween showing what a wonderful community we are for hosting family friendly events.

In case you weren’t aware, Miami Springs was invaded by thousands and thousands of trick or treaters this Halloween.  Miami Springs residents did an amazing job making the community inviting.  From creatively spooky Halloween displays to pop-up tent haunted houses, Miami Springs residents rolled out the red carpet for what was surely a record crowd.

At our home in the Bird Section of Miami Springs, we easily gave out chocolates and candy to over a hundred families between 7pm and about 9:30pm on Halloween.  The trick or treaters included moms and dads taking their babies in the cutest costumes.  We also had tons of toddlers and pre-teens.  And as the night progressed we saw more teens and young adults who seem to still enjoy the trick or treating tradition.

At close to 10pm, I headed out to the Circle to fuel up one of the vehicles and I was surprised both by the traffic jam at 10 o’clock on a Tuesday night and the sheer mass of trick or treaters on the Circle and walking up and down Curtiss Parkway.  There were cars parked on Curtiss Parkway from the golf course all the way to the Circle.  This gave trick or treaters from other areas an easy place to park for free with immediate access to residential neighborhoods.

Of course, we want to thank the Miami Springs Police Department which was out in full force on Halloween.  They were very visible slowly driving through the neighborhood streets of Miami Springs to make sure everyone was safe.

Something new this year was the lack of the drive by parents.  In years past, we’d see a few parents drive in a car or minivan, and the kids would open the doors and walk up to the house and then walk back to the car.  Everybody we saw this year was walking door to door. We prefer seeing kids walking door to door.

We were thankful for all the drivers who slowed down.  We didn’t witness any speeding or bad behavior.  Drivers were slow, cautious, and careful.

Bottomline:  Our quiet streets, lack of traffic, family friendly neighborhood, and wonderful residents made Miami Springs the clear South Florida winner for best community for traditional door to door trick or treating.  Thank you all for making the 2023 Halloween a supreme success for all the kids who experienced it this year.

God bless you all.
