We want to extend our heartfelt congratulations and thank you to Tyler Diaz from Scouts Troop 334 for successfully completing his remarkable Eagle Scout Project.
The first part of Tyler’s project was the creation of the First Responder Appreciation Monument. That included coming up with a design, a location, and raising funds to help build it. Tyler got it Done. Done. And done.
The monument was revealed by Diaz on Saturday, June 10, 2023, during a special ceremony. June 10th is significant as it is the day prior to the June 11th anniversary of the slaying of Miami Springs Police Officer Charles B. Stafford. Stafford is the only Miami Springs Police Officer ever killed in the line of duty.
Charles B. Stafford: The Only Miami Springs Police Officer Killed in the Line of Duty
The monument is located along the Westward Drive median walking path, directly across from Miami Springs City Hall. It’s a beautiful new monument and heartfelt tribute to our first responders including the courageous police officers and fire rescue who rush to emergencies throughout our community. It serves as a constant reminder of their selfless service and the gratitude the community has for their unwavering dedication.
In addition to the monument, Tyler organized the First Responder Safety Festival held last Saturday along Park Street in front of the Police and Fire Station. The event provided a valuable opportunity for kids of all ages to learn essential safety skills directly from our local first responders. By creating this event, Tyler helped to tighten the bond between our first responders and the community at large.
Tyler Diaz has proved that with a great idea, hard work, perseverance, and dedication, you can make anything happen. And while the media often bashes the current youth generation as being all about the “gram” and “stuck on their phones”, Tyler is a shining example that the future looks bright with individuals such as himself taking on initiatives and turning them into reality.
Tyler, your leadership and service is truly inspiring. Your Eagle Scout Project has left a lasting impact for the Miami Springs community. The entire community is immensely grateful for your outstanding contribution. May your future endeavors continue to inspire others and make our community an even better place.
God bless you Tyler, our first responders, and the entire Miami Springs Community.
