Woody’s Backyard Grill had their soft launch reopening last week and it was met with a great crowd and tons of enthusiasm for the return of this Miami Springs favorite.
The first thing you’ll notice when you arrive is the sweet smell from the smoker. (Did you think I was going to say something else?) Seriously. If you weren’t hungry when you arrive, your mouth with start to salivate as you take in the distinctive aroma wafting from the commercial smoker. A tantalizing symphony of flavors. Picture a rich, smoky essence that dances through the air, enticing your senses with its savory allure. At first whiff, you might detect the deep, earthy notes of hardwoods like hickory, mesquite, or oak, which infuse the meat with their distinctive character. As the smoke swirls around, it carries hints of sweet and tangy marinades, spices, and rubs that have mingled with the meat over hours of slow cooking. It’s a scent that evokes memories of backyard barbecues, festive gatherings, and moments of pure culinary delight.
Obviously, you’d have to be blind if you didn’t notice the new uniforms adorned by the wait staff. No, it’s not as racy as a Hooters. It’s far more tasteful, but still on the more provocative side. We’ll let you decide.
The menu has also changed with the feature being the Smoked Meats. These include the full rack of ribs, brisket, and pulled pork.
So how was the food and overall experience?
Obviously, a newly reopened restaurant with a brand new wait staff and new systems, not everything is going to be perfect. Service was not particularly fast. But that’s okay. We knew they had just opened and the servers were very friendly and helpful. Furthermore, we never went to Woody’s for a fast bite. We go to Woody’s to hang out with family or friends and have a good time while enjoying a good meal. So if things take a little while, that’s okay. We were there to talk and enjoy the company.
Okay, but how was the food?
Well, my wife ordered the brisket and I had the pulled pork. As my daughter would say, the pulled pork was “Fire!” In other words, it was exceptional. It was served smoking hot with a sweet flavor that both my wife and I loved. We’ll definitely be heading back for the pulled pork again. It was amazing.
The brisket was fine. It wasn’t bad, but it simply could not compare to the deliciousness from the pulled pork. But hey, that’s our opinion. You might try it and love the brisket more than the pulled pork.
And that’s the thing. You won’t really know till you try it yourself.
How was the ambiance?
Well we went on Friday night and it was packed. Parking is always a challenge anytime you head to Woody’s during a busy weekend dinner time.
Inside, the mood was fun and festive. You could hear the band playing classic rock outside. People were smiling. Friends were saying hello. The biggest challenge for some was just trying to get a seat.
Was everything perfect? Of course not. It was opening weekend with a brand new team.
Was it fun? Absolutely!
Was the food good? Yes. Especially the pulled pork.
So the question is, when will you try out the new Woody’s Backyard Grill?
Hey Nestor, so how was the pulled pork? How much you get in one order?
