In 2015 we warned you that the new Miami Springs pool was going to be much smaller than the grand olympic sized pool we had for over 50 years. We also informed you that much of the money was going into creating more buildings. In other words, more building space. Less pool space. Now you can see the construction of the new pool with your own eyes. Total construction cost: $5 MILLION.
Car fans didn’t have to wait till July 4th weekend to enjoy some cool cars on the streets of Miami Springs. The Festival introduced a car show that worked out really well along Westward Drive.
There was a great variety of vehicles that participated on Saturday and Sunday. From classic American muscle to British MGs, to highly modified imports, and even a few exotics.
AMERICAN CLASSICS
Nothing says classic Americana like the beautiful 1st generation American built Ford Thunderbird. It’s just a rolling piece of art and an eye catcher at every car show. As the song says, “And she’ll have fun fun fun ‘Til her daddy takes the T-bird away.”
In a world where new trucks can easily approach $100,000 when fully loaded, it’s amazing to see the simplicity and beautiful craftsmanship that went into the designs of the post war pickups.
The Chevy SSR is a quirky convertible pickup. It’s not practical as a pickup. It’s not particularly fast. But darn it. It just looks cool.
There something about 50s era American cars parked outside the Cozy Corner American Diner. Westward Drive truly shined as a great place to showcase cool cars.
I didn’t think about this while taking the photos, but theses classic American cars would look great parked in front of our local classic diner.
Despite the record rain that fell in South Florida, the Lord blessed Miami Springs with spectacular sunny weather that drew a massive crowd all weekend long. There’s something beautiful to see the sun shining on the chrome accents on these classic beauties.
In sunny South Florida, there is no winterization. Convertibles can go top down year round!
AMERICAN TUNERS
Unlike the Chevy SSR, the Jeep Gladiator is a convertible pickup that can really work.
Of course, they had American Muscle including this customized Shelby Mustang.
IMPORTS
The Car show definitely had a ton of imports…mostly Japanese. But they weren’t all souped up econoboxes. This Acura NSX was a stunning exotic to behold.
And they also had some classic British imports like this beautiful MG.
The Legend of the Nissan Z started with the original Datsun 260Z you see below.
And this black beauty is a symbol of Japanese reliability and incredible engineering. The Original Acura NSX.
We’d like to thank everyone who participated in the River Cities Festival Car Show. There was a wonderful variety of vehicles. And Westward Drive proved to be a great venue to highlight these masterful motoring machines.
