FLORIDA
The State of Florida now has over 26,000 cases of the Coronavirus. That’s more than the 24,000 cases in Louisiana. However, Florida’s total fatalities of 774 people, though high, is still below the 1,267 fatalities Louisiana has experienced. Furthermore, Florida has done far better than New York State which leads the nation with a whopping 232,000 confirmed cases of the virus and nearly 13,000 fatalities. New Yorks’ fatality rate stands at 6%. By comparison, the Florida fatality rate is at 3%.
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY
The number of cases in the county has surpassed 9,300 people. There have been 879 hospitalizations within Miami-Dade County for a 9.4% hospitalization rate. The number of fatalities has surpassed 200 in the county with a fatality rate of 2.2%.

Closer to home, our zip code shows 74 known cases of COVID-19. As we’ve stated over and over again, it’s important to treat everyone as if they have COVID-19. Practice social distancing. Wear a mask. Don’t shake hands. Wash your hands repeatedly throughout your day for a minimum of 20 seconds each time.
The better job we do at keeping the spread down and not overwhelming our healthcare system, the sooner we’ll be able to get life back to normal.
