Miami-Dade County Public Schools announced that they will be closing on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, due to Tropical Storm Nicole.  As you may know, Miami-Dade County School buses are not allowed to operate when winds exceed Tropical Storm strength.  northern Miami-Dade County is under a Tropical Storm Warning meaning that Tropical Storm conditions are EXPECTED within 24 to 36 hours.  Note that northern Miami-Dade County is also now under a Hurricane Watch as Tropical Storm Nicole intensifies near the Bahamas.

The National Hurricane Center is forecasting for Nicole to increase into a Hurricane sometime tomorrow.  We will begin to see deteriorating conditions tomorrow with the weather expected to get progressively worse as the storm approaches the coast of Florida late Wednesday night and into Thursday morning.

No decision has been made on whether the county will open up schools on Thursday.

As you might imagine, there are kids jumping up and down throughout Miami-Dade County.  Students already had the day off today due to the teacher planning day.  And kids have Friday off as well due to Veteran’s Day.  For kids, it’s a mini vacation!
