In 2015 we warned you that the new Miami Springs pool was going to be much smaller than the grand olympic sized pool we had for over 50 years. We also informed you that much of the money was going into creating more buildings. In other words, more building space. Less pool space. Now you can see the construction of the new pool with your own eyes. Total construction cost: $5 MILLION.
The annual Miami Springs River Regatta 5K Run drew runners of all ages to speed through Miami Springs. The event is hosted by the Miami Springs Parks and Recreation Department which has done an amazing job building this tradition.

The Miami Springs Police Department was also on hand to close off streets and make sure the the streets were safe for the runners.

The weather was fantastic with a swift breeze to keep the runners much cooler than the traditionally hot and humid run.

The race starts on the Circle near hook Square and heads west along Westward Drive business district. The path then makes a left hand turn at Esplanade Drive allowing runners to enjoy the tree lined residential streets alongside the Esplanade Canal. As runners reach the end of the road, they make another left hand turn onto Deer Run and towards the beautiful Miami Springs Golf Course.

The route continues around the golf course and towards the historic Curtiss Mansion. That’s about the halfway point.

After passing the Curtiss Mansion, the race heads west along Fairway Drive towards Eldron Drive. At Eldron Drive, the runners make a righthand turn as they hug the edge of the Miami Springs Golf Course.
