Angel Neira Rodriguez was arrested yesterday, August 25th, for Grand Theft Auto along with various traffic charges associated with his driver’s license.
Miami Springs Police describe Rodriguez as a designated Violent Career Criminal due to prior arrests for:
- 1st degree murder
- Kidnapping
- Carrying a Concealed Firearm
- Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon
- Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer
According to Miami Springs Police, a vehicle entered from Hialeah on Curtiss Parkway at approximately 3:10pm and triggered the ALPR Automated License Plate Reader. The vehicle matched a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) that was issued by Miami-Dade Police.
Miami Springs Police were able to quickly locate the vehicle at Oriole Avenue and Lenape Drive. The Police performed a felony stop on the vehicle that had four occupants.
As described above, the male passenger, Angel Rodriguez, was charged with Grand Theft Auto. The three passengers were not charged.
In addition to his Grand Theft Auto charge, Mr. Rodriguez was on Federal Probation for Fraud. The arrest violates his current probation.
