For decades, the Subways on northwest 36 street has been the place to enjoy a fresh healthy sandwich. Located on the corner of NW 36 Street and LaVilla Drive, the corner Subways store has been renovated inside and even expanded its hours to be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Come inside this Subways and you`ll be greeted with smiles by the loyal employees, several of which have worked there for many years.

Unfortunately, an armed robber decided he didn`t care about this friendly business and proceeded to rob the Subways at gunpoint, Wednesday evening, July 30th at 7:50pm for an undisclosed, but undoubtedly small amount of cash. The robber immediately fled the scene.

The suspect was described as a black male, mid 20s, 5` 7″, medium build, wearing white knit skull cap, baggy black short sleeved t-shirt over long sleeved white t-shirt, and baggy black pants. He was armed with a black semi-automatic hand gun. No vehicle description was available.

Anyone with information should contact Miami Springs Police Detective Ray Tamargo at 305.887.1444 or 305.733.5097.

Again, if you see someone matching the description, report it to Miami Springs police immediately. Let`s show them that Miami Springs businesses, residents, and police will stand together to stop crime.

Finally, I ask that all of you take time to stop by the Miami Springs Subways on NW 36 Street and Lavilla this week or this weekend. This is a family owned business. Stop in and order a meal. Tell the friendly folks that work there that we will not permit punks and thugs from hurting our local Miami Springs businesses.

Thank you!
