We don’t typically follow fuel prices, but for those of us who still commute every day, it is remarkable how low prices have fallen. Personally, I don’t remember seeing gas prices starting with the number 1 since the Bill Clinton era.
As you can see in these pictures, we found gas at just $1.56 at the BJ’s in Hialeah Gardens. That’s been the lowest priced gas I’ve seen in our area.
Of course, the low gas prices are a direct result of the lack of demand. With such a huge population staying at home, distance learning, working remotely from home, or newly unemployed, the roads have become relatively empty. Some of our most congested highways are wide open during the busiest times.
Even our own NW 36th Street looks has less traffic than a typical Sunday afternoon. It’s definitely weird and I’ll admit sad not to see everyone on the road, going to and from places.
Fortunately, Wednesday is the 1st day of phase I of re-opening and getting back to living life. Let’s follow the rules of social distancing, wearing a mask, and washing our hands for at least 20 seconds regularly.
